The vet who thinks outside the box

In this webinar, we are meeting with Albert Vilasevil, cofounder of Evo Boots, a vet specialised in equine podiatry, and bootfitting. Albert is one of the few veterinarians who has chosen to take a truly holistic approach to hoofcare and equine health. He is also currently continuing his studies to become a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine — not only for animals, but for humans as well.

We are talking about how he became a specialist in hoofcare and where it all began (like so many other times, it was because of a horse with hoof pathology that iron shoes – and even the best farriery approach in the book – still couldn’t fix).

Unlike many in the so-called “barefoot movement”, Albert doesn’t believe that natural is always best. Instead, he brings a grounded and open-minded perspective — recognizing that sometimes horses need orthopedic support or alternative solutions, and that good hoofcare is about understanding each individual case rather than following rigid ideologies.
